Max/Nell Bickford Review

Eventually I will be making a coherent review of The Education of Max Bickford so I am going to start by jotting down tid bits about each episode here. Be warned, they may skip around.

Episode 1 - First of all, there is not enough of Katee in this episode.
storylines not directly relating to Katee's character Nell:
Ms. Redgrave is spoiled and annoying, Max is petty.

Andrea Haskel, Max's former student, is hired for a position that Max thought he would get. It turns out they slept together while he was her professor. Max is snappish and petty.

Max talks about himself, in the form of voiceover narration, in the third person using the pseudonym "Skylar"...its weird

Max's best friend Steve got a sex change and is now called Erika. Max is weirded out and petty.

There is a moment when reality seems to pause and people at a faculty party are singing showtunes around a piano while Max wallows in his weird voiceover narration

Stuff involving Nell:

"i'm not going to class, we had a late gig last night" "this girl i met at that gig we did out in bedford" - these two quotes will later get contradicted or at the very least calling into question.

Max and Nell dont seem to have a great father/daughter relationship, but there have certainly been worse. I love that when leaving she turns back around for banana pancakes. and while chatting with max imbues a comment about Brittney Spears with such fantastic disdain. then she just casually but abruptly throws out the possibility that she may be pregnant, Max gets petty and Nell yells, throws a fork and storms out.

Katee sings so beautifully and i love the song choice! Plus Katee looks so cute and happy singing. and then of course there is sadness when she has to think about the likely father of her possible pregnancy flirting with another chick.

Nell and her little brother Lester are so amazingly cute together! i love their relationship and interactions to like the 18th degree!
